Speaker Ready Room

If your abstract has been selected for presentation at the 34th Academy Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium, congratulations! You're among a select number of individuals chosen to present at this year's Annual Meeting. We've added this section to the website to assist you in preparing for an exceptional O&P education experience.

Please check the schedule for your presentation date and time.

In preparing your presentation materials please keep in mind that product endorsements or "commercials" are not acceptable presentations. The intent of the program is to provide specific, relevant clinical and scientific information to participants.

To streamline the delivery of the presentations all presenters must bring their presentations on a flash drive. There will be one laptop computer on the podium into which the flash drives will be inserted for the presentations. Presenters must arrive at the session room at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the session to ensure the presentations are properly loaded onto the computer. All presentations must be compatible with Microsoft Office 2003.

On Time Policy

Your participation and cooperation are keys to making the Annual Meeting a success. The success of the meeting is built upon quality content, good organization and timeliness.

Please understand that this year each session will be carefully moderated at the Annual Meeting. We respectfully ask that all speakers limit their presentation to the time they have been allocated. All moderators will be instructed to give presenters a four and then two minute warning. Speakers who insist on continuing past their time allocation will be interrupted and the moderator will end the presentation and introduce the next speaker. It is embarrassing for the presenter and the moderator to have to end a presentation in this manner so I sincerely hope it will not be necessary.

This on time policy will apply to all Annual Meeting sessions. It will be enforced to maintain the integrity of the program and out of respect for all presenters on this outstanding program.

We appreciate your understanding of the policy and ask that you prepare your content appropriately for the time allotted for your presentation.

To ensure that the entire program reflects a professional appearance we ask that you assist us by providing the following information in a timely manner.

ALL PRESENTERS MUST:

  1. Complete an Audio/Visual and Biographical Sketch Form and return it to the Academy Meetings Department by December 31, 2007. This information allows us to order the appropriate equipment for your presentation and provide appropriate introduction materials for your session moderator. Please review the Presenter Instructions.
  2. Submit a paper on their program topic to be included in the Journal of Proceedings. The Journal of Proceedings will be available on CD-Rom and will be placed in each attendee's registration bag. Please follow the Guidelines for Contributions to the Journal of Proceedings to facilitate a uniform and professional appearance of all papers. All papers must be returned to the Academy by December 31, 2007 or they will not be included in the Journal of Proceedings CD-Rom.

Security
Please consider the security of your presentation materials when participating in any education event. Laptop computers or any other audio/visual equipment should never be left unattended. Neither the hotel nor the Academy may be held responsible for the theft of equipment left unattended in an unsecured area. We stress this to ensure that you are aware of the potential problems and to avoid the aggravation of having your equipment stolen.
