Certificate Programming

Academy Certificate Programs for Professional Development play a significant role in the 2007 Annual Meeting education program. The Current Trends in Pediatric Orthotic Practice program focuses on incorporating the theories of the Ponseti Treatment method in your practice, identifying the key variables which influence orthotic management of the pediatric and adolescent spine, the management of the cervical spine and halos, management of the pediatric hip, plagiocephaly, management of CP and the lower extremity management of Spina Bifida and Muscular Dystrophy.

The Prosthetic Foot/Ankle Mechanisms program is built upon the findings of the recent Academy State of the Science Conference (SSC) on Prosthetic/Foot Ankle Mechanisms. Highlights of the program include the biomechanics of foot function and gait, the rationale and practice of prescribing prosthetic feet, mechanical analysis of feet and how feet are studied in the lab, how research can improve prosthetic prescription and patient outcomes, the relationship between prosthetic foot selection and outcomes, and future research priorities.
